Cantine Russo


 The winemaking tradition of the Russo family began two centuries ago to Solicchiata, district of Castiglione di Sicilia. A tradition since 1860 has arrived today, handed down from father to son. The Russo family devoted itself exclusively to the cultivation of their vineyards which stretched in the Solicchiata (Castiglione di Sicilia), on the slopes of Mount Etna. In 1955, Don Ciccio (Francesco) Russian father Vincenzo, founded the current company building a factory for the vinification, bottling and marketing of the wine creating the first brand "RUSVINI" which is still a line of wines IGT.Oggi the Winery "Cantine Russo" owns about 25 ha. of vineyards planted with vines as Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio from which we obtain the Etna Rosso DOC Prancing wine of ruby red color and very fruity and harmonious, which lends itself elegantly to 'aging and Carricante and Catarratto which gives the Etna Bianco DOC Prancing lively flavor and fragrances ricercati.I vineyards are located between 650 and 1000 meters high in the north and northeast side of the volcano, a dry, well-ventilated, with significant differences in temperature between day and night during the maturation of 'grapes, thus favoring the production of aromatics and getting more feedback quality wine. The composition and structure of the volcanic soil is rich in minerals, together with climatic and microclimatic give the wine that is produced in this area unique.
